Second half surge pushes Bison past Tomcats

Greenville, Pa - The Bethany College men's basketball team traveled to Greenville, Pa. for a President's Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup to face the Thiel College Tomcats. The Bison edged the Tomcats, 60-53. The Bison were led by career high performance from Logan Wolverton with 18 points. The green and white are now 3-18 (2-10) and Thiel is now 6-15 (4-8).

GAME OVERVIEW
1st – Bethany struck first with an Aiden Albert free throw. Derek White Jr. added a layup to put the Bison up 3-2. The Bison and Tomcats went neck and neck, answering each other's shots, before Thiel scored 14 unanswered points. A Logan Wolverton layup cut the lead to 12, 19-7. The green and white trailed by as many as 14 before cutting the lead to eight from an Albert trey, 28-20. Bethany trailed at halftime, 32-20.

2nd- The Tomcats struck first in the second half, stretching the lead to 35-20. Derek White Jr. scored four straight points for the Bison, 35-24. A Khalil Wilson layup cut the lead to single digits for the first time since the first half. The Tomcats answered, extending the lead back to 11. Back to back threes from Dylan Furlong and Logan Wolverton cut the lead down to five, with just over 12 minutes to go in the game. An Albert three brought the Bison within two, 39-37. The Bison and Tomcats battled back and forth, with the Tomcats ahead. The Bison gained the lead after Wolverton knocked in 5-6 from the foul line, 54-51. The green and white were able to maintain the lead for their third victory of the season.

Aiden Albert contributed nine points
Dylan Furlong grabbed a team high seven rebounds, Khalil Wilson and Trent Uphold each pulled in six for the Bison
• The Bison shot 31.3% (15-48) while the Tomcats shot 27.4% (17-62)
• Bethany went 25-33 from the charity stripe

Bethany returns action on Wednesday, Feb. 6, when they take on St. Vincent for a PAC matchup inside Hummel Field House. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
